About 3DRBI

Addressing a Systemic Challenge

3D Remote Building Inspections Ltd. (3DRBI) provides virtual code compliance and inspections for building projects across Canada.

Access to qualified building inspectors is a persistent challenge. Rural, remote, and First Nations communities face high travel costs, long delays, and limited availability. Projects are often postponed, costs increase, or inspections are skipped entirely, impacting housing supply, safety, and long-term affordability.

These challenges are not limited to remote areas. Even large municipalities are struggling with a nationwide shortage of qualified building officials, creating bottlenecks that affect project timelines and compliance.

What we do

3DRBI provides virtual code compliance and remote construction inspections that make building reviews faster, more affordable, and accessible, no matter where the project is located.

Through the use of innovative technologies, 3DRBI removes the need for an inspector to physically visit a construction site. We help communities, builders, and other groups:

• Conduct inspections remotely — no travel required, minimizing delays and disruptions
• Ensure code compliance — professional reviews against building standards
• Reduce costs and scheduling bottlenecks — avoid expensive flights and lengthy travel
• Increase inspection coverage — multiple milestones can be reviewed efficiently
• Receive actionable reports — clear, detailed findings and guidance for next steps

By providing a means for significantly faster and more cost-effective inspections, 3DRBI aims to empower communities and builders across the country to Inspect Smarter and Build Better by increasing the accessibility of highly qualified inspectors and drastically reducing inspection timelines.

The First Nations National Building Officer's Association (FNNBOA) was established in 2003. The name “building officer” was selected because it incorporates the daily activities of a First Nations inspector, whose tasks are many and varied in the community extending beyond the on-site inspection of buildings. The FNNBOA represents people in First Nation communities who provide residential, commercial and institutional construction and renovation technical services. This includes plans review, inspections, recommending repairs, technical advocacy and advisory services assisting on reserve construction.
